Club La Santa has always been a great place to get out and cycle. Now it’s even better because we’ve upgraded the selection of bikes in the Bike Centre.
FROM CLS:
We now have 8 new Cannondale Slice carbon 105s, which are available at the same price as the road bikes.
The “free” bikes have now been upgraded with the following:
MTB Cannondale Trail SL2
Road Bikes Cannondale CAAD 8 (triple)
City bikes Cannondale Street Sport Nexus
Children’s bikes Winther (all sizes)
Push bikes (x2) Winther
All the bikes are brand new and that means we’ve now 185 bikes for hire.

Kayak del Mar
Kayak del Mar (book through CLS Guide Department) has recently acquired the following kayak types:
PRO RACING/TRAINING KAYAKS:
Nelo Surfski's are the primary sea training choice for elite paddlers around the world. These kayaks are made 100% from carbon fiber. Dimensions are 6.4m long and 42/44cm wide and weigh less than 10 kilograms.
Kayak del Mar has 3 sizes available: M, L and XXL
If you have clients asking for "flatwater sprint kayaks" or "sprint trainers" (in danish: turkajak + kapkajak, Español: piragüa de pista) then we can arrange special training sessions for these clients.
(These are the kayaks the BOIC asked for last autumn).
--- --- ---
RECREATIONAL KAYAKS:
We also have 8 new sit-on-top double kayaks and 13 sit-on-top individual kayaks (total of 29 seats) which are excellent for groups. These kayaks are very stable and can be used by everyone experienced or not.

Club La Santa Personalities - Sir Benny
Sir Benny is our first guest series of interviews with the familiar friends we know at CLS.
Sir Benny is in CLS to compere the shows from Christmas through to the last week of April each year and to enjoy the Club La Santa ambience he loves. He stays at CLS every year with his wife, Lone and their 3 dogs.
When did you first visit Club La Santa?
I first visited Club La Santa 23 years ago. It is my favourite place of work and I have been here on and off during this period. I have a very special relationship with Father Christmas at CLS. (For those of you not there at Christmas, he is the gentleman Dressed in Red on Christmas Eve giving out the presents in the Square).
What was your first occupation?
Entertainer as a unicyclist performer. I worked with my aunt and uncle who trained me. I have worked all over the world, most countries in Europe, Singapore many Arabic countries Japan, China but never the USA. Contracts never came from there or maybe they had too many unicyclists…
Have you ever worked in the UK?
Yes. Blackpool; the Talk of the Town in London and for a number of years on and off at the Butlin holiday camps in the south of England. I also worked and lived in Ireland for 3 years and in 1966 toured 156 towns in six months. When I returned to England I was challenged for my Irish accent with (polite version) “Get lost Paddy” which for a Danish guy was a strange experience.
Now what do you do?
I started as a magician in 1975 after stopping unicycling. I continued this for the next 20 years through to 1995. I now have a Performing Artists agency with my business partner, Hasse, in Denmark.
Have you met many Famous Artists?
Yes, two British ones were the comedian Ken Dodd when I was in Blackpool and Paul Daniels the magician when in Bahrain.
Have you ever wanted to be a Green Team member?
During my early time at CLS I felt I was too old to be a Green Team member. They were all very young at that stage. The age range for the green team is much wider now. I have always enjoyed mixing with the Team.
When did you last do the morning workout?
Er, 1987 !
How long do you spend at CLS each year?
Each year I arrive in CLS the week before Christmas. I depart usually around the last Friday of April. This works well with my business partner Hassle who is then away performing in Denmark for about 6 months and I am back in the office.
How many languages do you speak?
Seven and I manage to get by in many, including English, American and Irish. My daughter is excellent in English as she has spent many years at the British school in Lanzarote for 6 months of the year and then back in Denmark for the other half.
Lone, your wife is a well known personality on television in Denmark. Do you perform together in your compared shows here at CLS?
Not now although she has done in the past.
Your dogs are often seen on walks with you around the Lagoon. Tell us about them.
The dogs are Charlie, aged 16 years, Laura and Anton. They are all “ mixed heritage”, I think you call them mongrels. Charlie and Laura were born here in Lanzarote; Anton is from Denmark and is half King Charles Spanial. They are very well travelled dogs and on their trips to Lanzarote on the CLS flight they have their own seat between Lone and me. They sit in their own waterproof bags and other passengers often only discover they are there as they leave the plane after landing!

Apartment Renovations
Latest information is that progress with the renovation work is a little behind schedule but that CLS is near to agreeing the final “template” design, fittings and furnishings.
It is hoped that by October at the latest CLS will be ready with all agreed materials, equipment and furnishings on site to start the complete renovation project in earnest.
It is quite clear that CLS is putting a great deal of effort into getting all the various elements right, so that we have a much higher standard of apartments for the future, and this is what is taking time.
Will update as news comes in.
