La Graciosa Water Taxi

There is an alternative to taking the traditional ferry from Órzola over to the island of La Graciosa.
Water Taxi La Graciosa
The La Graciosa Water Taxi will come to you when you need them, they collect not just from Órzola but Famara too and will drop off where you like! The service means that you have the freedom to organise crossings to and from La Graciosa as required. This is also the taxi service that can collect you from the beach at the bottom of the Mirador del Río if you don’t fancy the climb back up the risco.
Their website www.lagraciosawatertaxi.com is still in construction, so it doesn’t list their prices other than ¡Al mejor precio! (best price).
The “taxi” is a 10m rib seating a maximum of 12 passengers in one trip with twin outboard engines, guaranteed to put a smile on your face and much cooler than the traditional ferries!
Call 676 901 845 or email info@lagraciosawatertaxi.com for more information.

Club La Santa supports UNICEF's programme "Schools for Africa"

CLS Press Release
Today, the 15th of April 2011, at Club La Santa, UNICEF Spain and Club La Santa signed a collaboration contract into which Club La Santa reckons the work done by the organization to defend and promote the rights of the children world wide.
versión españolaThe act was presided by Leif Rasmussen, General Manager of Club La Santa, and Nereida Castro Martín, President of the Canary Islands Comity.

Club La Santa will yearly grant 12.000 euros, during the next two years, that will go to the programme "Schools for Africa". This project arose from a joint effort of both UNICEF and the Nelson Mandela Foundation that pretends to improve the conditions and access to education in countries such as Mozambique, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Madagascar and Mali. Club La Santa’s compromise is to promote the “Sports for Development” program through its usual communication tools.

Both Leif Rasmussen and Nereida Castro showed their satisfaction to be able to do something together to help out socially. The contract was signed for a two years duration to start with, but the idea is that this new compromise only be a start for a long lasting collaboration, and that we all get used to see Club La Santa and Unicef together.

CLS Wine Tasting - Report

See this link for a full report.   Yes, it's me doing the looking part!

Report from a TSO:

I "forced" myself to the Wine Tasting after tennis today even thought a little late.
It was excellent. The lady who presented it was very knowledgeable and the Stratus wine was great. I think everyone enjoyed it. It did occur to me that perhaps La Santa should do more of this type of thing as their clientele (Timeshare owners!!) gets a little older and some people are less able to do sports all day!

As you might expect, I contributed to the occasion even though I hid behind a pillar as I was not really appropriately dressed.

I arrived just after the dry white had been tasted, but was quickly given a sample - and then the Diego wine came - semi-sweet.
"What can you smell?" She asked. No-one said anything. So I offered "Apricots" - from behind my pillar! "Wonderful." She said - "Perfect. Stone fruit and delicate aroma."
A bit sweet but great flavour.

Then we had the sweet desert wine. Once again she asked for comments - nothing! So she leant round my pillar and asked what I thought. "Marmalade." I said. Raptures again - apparently I had said the right thing - not sure if the Danes knew what marmalade was but I got a good laugh.
I always try to contribute if some poor person has a shy audience. Luckily they got braver at the end ( when the wine took affect!) and asked all sorts of questions about where to buy the wines - all good stuff - and hopefully exactly what they wanted.
Great activity, well presented and just what La Santa should be doing.
