As very many tourists in these last two weeks – we had a strenuous return from Lanzarote…. On short notice we had to be at the airport 07.00 in the morning for flight to Barcelona, where we landed on the cargo part of the airport, so no stairs were available for more than one hour…, then two hours waiting to get luggage + bus (an old one) for Geneva, where at 05.00 in the morning no new buses had arrived. When we left for Germany – the driver lost his way (another hour in vain). One guide for three buses, a person who turned sour and had to be replaced… However, being fed on junk food from gasoline stations and with a special sort of grim humour we arrived in Oslo after 53 hours…
Glad to be back - at work! And month of May is the very best here in Norway.

Send me more Old Photos! Some old photos from 1984 and 1985 from Catherine Ellis and Derek Baker
Catherine says:
I've attached a few you might like to add to your collection. The leisure pool shots are interesting for the number and size of the flower beds around the diving pool. There was less room for sun-bathing then.

Squash Courts - Improvements to Playing Surfaces - UDPATE
Good news for squash fanatics. Court 4 has been sanded and should now be fine for advanced players. Either Court 1 or 2 will also be sanded soon.
UPDATE - the work has been completed on all four courts. I'm getting good reports. See photos.

Volcano Flight Problems
Still no flights from Lamzarote other than to Spain or the other Canary Islands.
Some TSOs managed to get flights to Madrid over the weekend, with the prospect of bus journies to UK lasting 19 hours! If they can get one....
TSOs still have no idea when they will be able to fly home. There was a meeting for Danish guests this morning to give updates on the latest news.
But no news on when flights may be allowed.
The situation is very difficult for most guests and there are some large school groups who are stuck here. CLS is accepting credit card details over the telephone from parents of children who need money and to pay for their accomodation. Some other students need to get home before the end of this week to sit important examinations.
CLS is doing all it can to help in supplying information and making lists of contact details available for the airlines, etc.
CLS is also arranging extra activities, including a trip to Puerto del Carmen, aquaerobics and additional dancing classes.
Did you see CLS on the BBC news last night? The mother of one of the boys in a school group was interviewed in the studio.
