West Bromwich Albion and Scotland midfielder, James Morrison, has told his local newspaper that a week’s training at Club La Santa has helped him get back to full fitness.
A heel injury had left Morrison on the sidelines for 10 months, but with the Championship coming to a critical stage, a member of the backroom staff suggest he should head out to Lanzarote with physio, Richie Rawlins, to get ready for the crucial run-in.
Morrison told The Sunday Mercury:
“It got me away from the training ground where I was used to being the first one in and last one to leave at 6pm, it’s hard being in the gym on your own so different scenery helps and it was a bit of sunshine on my back. It was a bit of a joint decision to go out there, everybody thought it would be a good idea, because of the snow I couldn’t really do much running and it wasn’t helping.
“So we came up with a plan to go abroad somewhere and Lanzarote was a camp where all the athletes go. We tried it out there and I really enjoyed it.
“I didn’t see any famous athletes. There were loads out there but I didn’t recognise any of them. There was certainly no Usain Bolt.
“It’s a special set-up for athletes. Ade, our fitness coach, used to go out there for training so he’d known about it for years. It was good. I did a lot of swimming and football work.”
I had to include this entry as I am a great fan of West Brom!

Padel Tennis!
The new padel tennis facilities at Club La Santa are now open.
Padel tennis was originated by Frank Peer Beale in 1898 to help children learn to play tennis. In 1959 Murray Geller revised the rules, where it evolved into the modern game of padel tennis that is played today.
Padel tennis is very similar to regular tennis, and can be played both in singles or doubles; however it is most often played in doubles. The biggest difference to regular tennis is that the court has walls and the balls can be played of them in a similar way as in the game of squash.
Padel tennis is a great game for everybody, because it is easy to pick up and is less physically demanding than other similar sports such as squash.

Club La Santa Bookings
These are looking good for the remainder of 2010 and look like being 15% or more up on last year. July is already fully booked! March will average over 90% occupancy.
January was the best month ever for Atlantico Restaurant and we have had several reports recently of it being fully booked (400 people) in the evenings!

Renovation work at Club La Santa
From November 2010 work will start on some major improvements and renovations to around 25 apartments, mainly on the ground floor. This is essential work to avoid problems when there is heavy rainfall and to upgrade the apartments in line with current CLS renovation standards. The work will take around 12 months to complete.
As a result, Club La Santa flight capacity from Copenhagen will be reduced by 60 seats each week, down to 148 from Copenhagen and 148 from Billund.
More information about the project and how it may affect TSOs will be published as it becomes available.
