Ironman - Bert and Bella again! (plus Ironman at the Bike Stop Cafe)
Bert Jaemmer, from Belgium (08:54:03) and Bella Bayliss GBR (09:54:58) win again; local athlete GREGORIO CĂCERES MORALES (9:01:06) was fourth.
Nico Munoz Ward, who used to work in Rent-a-car and in the Sportshop was 13th in 09:22:10
Robin Brew, famous for having his photo on the wall of the ITSO Office, was 5th out of the water!
But had problems which meant he had to stop after the bike course. Actually he's famous not just for that, but also for his training camps and of course for being a former swimmimg Olympic Record holder (200m indvidual medley at the Los Angeles Olympics 1984) and for being a world class triathlete!
In La Santa village, at Morten's Bike Stop Cafe, we cheered all the competitors as they raced past.

TSO Chris Wild (son of Tony, famous CLS Guest Show guitarist!) finished in 11:27:11. around 5 hours faster than last time!
Family Bletso, new TSOs, had David finish in 11:21:22.
TSO Matt Webb was unfortunate in not being able to finish the run, due to problems with his foot..
Well done to all!

The place is buzzing - it's Ironman Week!!
The place is buzzing - it's Ironman Week!!
The complex is full and there are many additional visitors who have come to register and/or to visit Ironman Expo, the Ironman sales exhibition.
The pasta party for competitors and their families is happening now, with the normal overflow from Atlantico onto the extra seating outside.
LINKS: There will be a record field on Saturday It's four days now until the gun goes off at 7am in Puerto del Carmen and a field of over 1300 ...
Read more at Lanzarote Information: The big news this week is all about Ironman, which is happening on Saturday. All the signs are out, and there are competitors out training every day. This year there will be 1300 people in the contest. Amazing when you consider we struggled to get more than 100 in the first year, 1992! I will be there together with Jules, and we will be taking video, photos and writing all about the day - you will be able to see and read all about it on Lanzarote Information first!

Volcano Triathlon May 2009
A number of TSOs took part in this event, more than 300 entrants, and it was a great day. Jane from the ITSO Service Office (November 2008 Arrecife 1/4 marathon - age group winner; March 2009 13k Ridge Run - age group winner) did the running leg as a member of Team 008 She says she chose her team because of their respective talents in swimming and biking, not their age and good looks ..... Gerrard is a graphic designer from Madrid and Carlos is a bombero from Tinajo.
