The Canarian Government yesterday rejected CLS's application for the new development.

See note below from CLS.
Dear all,
We hereby send you a link to an article published yesterday in the internet news paper La Voz de Lanzarote http://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/spip.php?article24256 as well as a short resume:
The Canary Government rejects the Club La Santa petition for parliamentary vote
Club La Santa’s petition to have the parliament vote for interés general in connection with their new hotel project has been declined on 10th of December 2008 stating that Lanzarote’s local government handed in the petition way too late, i.e. a year and a half too late.
Hereby the Canary Government has decided that the project should be handled within the new law, which is still not fully elaborated, and this means that a final decision regarding the project is probably far away.
Med venlig hilsen
Leif Rasmussen
Adm. direktør
Club La Santa, S.A.

Click on photos for bigger versions.
New Year's Eve in the Square at CLS. What better way could there be of celebrating the start of 2009?
Some photos showing people enjoying the evening! Jane, with TSOs Michael and Janne Fornaes, and Joanne. Jane , with me.... Joanne, Entertainments Manager and Matt, Assistant Entertainments Manager - what a team!
Thanks as always to them and everyone else behind the scenes.
The Old Green Team Band played to a packed square and then Los Problemos took us through to the bewitching hour - see the photo taken on the stroke of midnight - the dance floor was full - amazing scenes!

Tennis Courts 8 and 9 - back in use!
Pleased to report that these are now available for use again. This will help those who enjoy the Social Tennis tournaments on Saturdays and Tuesdays, get in to the tournament. This has been tricky recently, due to the popularity of the tournament and the reduced number of courts.
Some final repairs are required to the last metre or so at the back of the courts, so use is at your own risk. Barriers have been erected around these areas.
